ADMISSION TO DENTAL COURSES

All India (C.B.S.E.) Pre-medical/ Pre-Dental Entrance Examination

The Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.C), New Delhi Conducts All India Entrance Examination for admission to 15% seats in Dental Colleges run by Government Municipal and local authorities except the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

Eligibility:  Indian Nationals of 17 years of age on December 31 of the year of admission.

Qualification:   12 years Senior Secondary Examination with 50% (40% for Scheduled Castes/Tribes) aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together or B.Sc. with any two subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) with 50% marks and Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English passed at Higher Secondary. Candidates who have appeared at the qualifying examination are also eligible. Candidates Should be medically fit.

Application Procedure:  Application form and Bulletin of Information can be obtained on Cash payment of Rs. 10 from the notified branches of Canara Bank or CBSE Regional Offices at (i) Todar Mal Marg, Ajmer-305001, (ii) 1/1 Neem Sarai Transport Nagar, Akram Builiding, Allahabad-211001, (iii) State Institute of Education Building, Sector-32, Chandigarh-160031, (iv) Rajgarh Road, Rajgarh Tinali, Guwahati-781003, (v) 11, Lake Area, Nungambakkam, Madras-600034. The form can also be obtained by Post from the All India Pre-medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination Unit, CBSE, 17B, remitting bank draft of Rs. 22 alongwith a Self-addressed envelope of 12”x10” completed application alongwith the examination fee of Rs. 100 (Rs. 25 for Scheduled castes/Tribes) through bank-draft should reach the CBSE by registered post by the notified date.

Entrance Examination: The examination consists of two papers one in Physics & Chemistry, and Botany & Zoology. The questions are of objective type with negative marks for incorrect response. The medium of examination is Hindi and English. The Centres of the examination are Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Bombay, Calcutta, Chandigarh, Delhi, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Lucknow, Madras, Nagpur, Port-Blair, Patna, Panaji, Pondicherry, Shimla, Shillong and Trivandrum.

The CBSE forwards a Copy of the merit list to the Director General of Health Services who allocate the Seats at Dental Colleges.

All India Entrance for PG seats in Medical Colleges

         This examination is conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in January/February at 26 different centres all over the Country for admission to 25% of seats for post graduate courses in all Dental Colleges run by the Central/ State Governments, Municipal or other local authorities except’ the States of Jammu & Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, A.I.I.M.S., PGI Chandigarh and private medical colleges.

ANDHRA PRADESH
Admission to B.D.S. ( Bachelor of Dental Surgery ) in the State is made though Engineering , Agricultural & Medical, Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (EAMCET). This test is Conducted by one of the State Universities.

Eligibility : Age:  17-22 years (25 years for B.Sc. /M.Sc. Degree holders and scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes candidates ) as on 31st December of the year of admission.

Qualification: Inter Science /10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology .

Domicile: Indian nationals of Andhra Pradesh ,candidates who have resided in the State for ten years excluding periods of study out-side the state ; candidates either of whose parents/spouses of those in State /Central, Public Sector, Local Bodies ,Universities employment within the State at the time of application.

Application Procedure: Application form alongwith Instruction Booklet can be obtained in person from any of the State Medical Colleges on Cash payment of Rs. 16 or through Demand Draft of the State Bank of India drawn in favour of the Secretary, APSCHE , EAMCET A/C Hyderabad if required by post by sending Self addressed stamped (Rs.4.50) envelope of 28*13cms. Completed applications along with test fee of Rs. 60 through Demand Draft should reach the Convener EAMCET.

Selection: Candidates are ranked in order of merit in EAMCET Test is conducted at Anantapur  Bhimavaram, Cuddapah, Guntur, Hyderabad, Kakinada, Kurnool, Machilipatanam, Nallore, Nizamabad , Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Vijay awada,Visakhapatnam,Warangal.

 The qualification papers are set in the subjects of Physics ,Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics and are of objective type of Intermediate Standard.

ASSAM

Admission to first year BDS Course is made through State level selection Board ,This course is available at: Regional Dental College,Guwahati-781032.

Allocation of Seats: Scheduled Castes- 1 seat, Scheduled Tribes- 3 seats (Plains-2,Hill-1)OBC including MOBC-2 seats, children of Tea garden communities /Tribes –1 seat,Childern of ex-servicesmen /Defence  Personal-1 seat,Children or Brother/Sisters of Martyrs of Assam Movement-2 seats,General-5 seats.

Eligibility :  Age:   17-24 years(27 years for scheduled castes/ Tribes ) as on 1st December of the years of admission.

Qualification:  12 years Higher ,Secondary science examination with English ,Physics Chemistry ,and Biology with 50% (40% for Scheuled Castes /Tribes ) aggregate marks.

Domicile:  Indian nationals,natives and permanent residents of Assam .Candidates should have studied for 2 years in a state institution preceding the date of application.

Selection:  Selection is made on merit based on marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination.

DELHI

The University of Delhi holds Entrance Examination for admission to BDS ,Government of India nominees and children/widows of Armed personal disabled or killed in action are exempted from Entrance Examination .

Maulana Azad Medical College

Completed application alongwith entrance examination fees of Rs 200 through Bank Draft in favour of the registrar ,University of Delhi , Should reach the Asstt. Registrar faculty of medical science university of Delhi by the last date.

Selection: Selection is made on the basis of merit in the Common Entrance Examination.This examination comprises to two papers

  1. (i)                   Physics and Chemistry and
  2. (ii)                Botany and Zoology.

JAMMU AND KASHMIR

For admission to BDS Entrance Examination is conducted . Government Dental College and Hospital ,Srinagar-190010.

Domicile:  Admissions is open to candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution in J&K Exceptions – children of permanent residents ,State employees serving in Govt. offices /public sectors undertakings outside the state.Children of officers belonging to J&K State who are on deputation to  Union Govt. children of permanent residents in Defence and Paramilitary forces serving anywhere.

BIHAR

In Bihar Medical and Dental Admission Test (MDAT) is conducted for admission to first year BDS in the following Dental |Colleges.

Domicile:  Citizens of India, Candidates whose father/ Mother have been residents of Bihar for 10 years, Sons/daughters of Central Govt. employees serving in the State at the time of application, Sons/daughters of State employees/Member of All India Services on Bihar Cadre, Candidates whose parents are not alive may apply with 10 years residence certificate from DM.

Applications are required to be sent through registered post only. Completed applications along with the bank draft of Rs. 100 and self –addressed stamped Rs. 7 envelope of 9”x4” should be submitted to the district Magistrate where the candidate has passed the qualifying examination.

Selection: Selection is made on the basis of merit in the test. This test is of Intermediate Standard. The questions in the test are of objective type in the Subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Botony and Zoology.

This Institute also has the facility for 2 years BDS (condensed) course for MBBS degree holders.

PaymentSeats : 50% of the total seats are available in Private aided and non- aided college.Selection is based on merit through Common Entrance Test except Foreign Students and NRs upto 5---15% Payment for seats varies from year to year.

Eligibility: Indian Nationals, one should have studied at least for 5 years

inKarnataka in between Ist standard and the qualifying examination  should have passed Karnataka 2 years PUC or its equivalent in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English with at least 50% marks in PCB group (40% for Scheduled Castes/Tribes). Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination are also eligible.

Age: 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission.

Exemptions: The following categories of Students are exempted from the condition of 7 years  Study in Karanatka.

  1. (i)                   Children of MPs from Karanataka.
  2. (iii)                 Children of Defence Personnel. Central Govt. undertakings Working continuously for a year in Karnataka on July Ist of the year of entrance test.

(iii) Children of Serving or retired employees of all Inida Services deputed  in Karanataka and State employees serving or served outside the state.

(iv) Children of Central or State Govt. undertaking employees working or retired outside Karanataka State where such employees had declared a place in Karanaraka as home town and have either studied in any educational institution in Karanataka and 5 years study any time between Ist standard and qualifying examination.

(v) Children of serving Defence Personnel whose home address is Karanataka.

  1. (vi)  Children  of parents whose mother tongue is kanad and who are at present residing in the border disputed Kanada  speaking areas to full extent.
  2. (vii)  Children of parents whose mother tongue is Karanada and who  are residing outside Karanarka to full extent on the Ist July of the year of Entrance Test.

Eligibility  for Payment Seats :Eligibiliy for these seats is same as above except the requirement of the condition  that they are not exempted from the  condition of 5 years  study in Karanataka.

Allocation of Seats :  ( For Dr. Ahmad Dental College) General-28 seats, Scheduled Cases-5 seats,  Scheduled Tribes-2 seats, Central Government nominees ( including North East State ,Skikims, Andaman & Nicobar Island)-12 seats. State Govt. nominees-3 seats. All India Entrance-7 seats. (For North Bengal Dental College) All India Entrance-15%, Reservation is for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes candidates and Government of India/State Government nominees.

Eligibiage: 17 years on December 31st of the year of admission.

Qualification: 12  years Higher Secondery examination ( General or Vocational stream of the West Bengal  Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent with English Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Vernacular and must have passed each subject including theeory and  and practical sepratelly. Candidate  who have appeared in the qualifying examination are also eligibile. Domicile: Indian citizens and have been residing in the state continuously for 10 years or  who or whose parents are permanent residents of the  state.

Procedure : The prescribed application form is to be submitted with the requisite      fee of Rs. 5 by receipted challan form of United Bank of India Branchof Calcutta/ Howrah and enclose a self-addressed Stamped ( Rs. 2envelope of 23x13 cms. For dispatch of Admit   Card.Candidatesliving outside West  Bengal  can pay the enrolment fee by crossedIndian Postal Order Payable to the”West Bengal Board of Examination”at Howrah Post Office. Completed application should reach thenotified colleges by the prescribed date.One application form for admission to BDS is available after publication of Merit list from  Central Selection Committee on production of receipted original Treasury challan of Rs.5 each payable under head (0210- Medical and Public Health  03- Medical Education training and Research 105- Allopathic fees for Joint Entrance Examination) in column 5 of TJ Form-7 with the words “ Price of the  publication form for admission to BDS courses for the Session………. Cheques, Draft ,Postal Orders, Postal request are not entertained.

Selection: : Admission is made on the basis of merit in the Joint Entrance Examination. The examination comprises of papers in Physics, Chemistry, Biological sciences    of 12th standard.
